We are having a great year!!!! WARNING: Graphic Pictures

Post by longshot »

Dad and I are having a great year. Dad killed two bucks that were within a few minutes of each other. I was running my atv up and down the trail trying to stay ahead of my 2 beagles that were running these deer hard but when they made a turn to a creek bottom where dad was sitting on his atv, I knew that dad was about to shoot. Dad had left his new Winchester SX# at home and was toting his father's old shot gun loaded with 00 buckshot. When I heard the old Remingtom 1100 bark one time, I just knew that dad had scored. When I got to him he was laying on his side next to an old oak where he could see the deer coming up the branch. 1 shot from 60 yards was all it took for him to put a nice seven pointer down. I told dad that I was going to get some bunjee cords from the truck to secure the buck to the avt but when I got to the truck, I heard my beagles tearing it up in there again. I was getting the cords out of the toolbox when I heard dad's gun go off again. When I was just about to him, I saw another buck laying in the path with a load of buckshot in his neck and front shoulders. This buck was a decent four pointer. I took a picture of the deer on the ground with my cell phone. Dad was hurting pretty bad and didn't feel like posing for a picture so we got the 7 point buck onto his truck and took a picture. I know that there is a lot of blood in these picyures but I didn't know that I was supposed to clean it up before taking the pictures. Dad didn't want me to post the pictures because it would make some members angry but blood is a part of the hunt and that should be shown from time to time. If you feel like fussing me out over the blood, please don't do it on the forum. You can send me a PM about it. I hope that dad will post some time before the season comes back in but he is still upset about what happened. I killed a doe 2 weeks ago but the batteries were dead in my camera. So that's 2 does for me and three bucks for dad. Not bad for the second week of the season huh? Agin, if blood offends you, please don't scroll down.

I hope that everyone is having a great season!!!

God Bless you,

Them are some fine deer! Glad to hear that ya'll are having one heckuva season! Keep up the good work :D

And don't worry about the blood. Crimson is one of the natural colors of Fall!
Now therefore take, I pray thee, thy weapons, thy quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field, and take me some venison; And make me savoury meat, such as I love, and bring it to me, that I may eat; that my soul may bless thee before I die. Gen 27:3-4

Congrats on the deer!!

The only blood I do NOT want to see is my own.

Wow! Your dad is a real huntn' machine. Definitely sounds like a great season down your way. :D

As for the blood, that's all a part of the harvest. :D I'm sure most everybody reading this section has probably dressed out at least one or more deer in their lifetime.

Nice story and good pictures. No need to apologize for the blood.how can you shoot a deer and not have blood? Every thing was done in good taste. Now lets eat!! :) :) :)

Congrats on filling up the freezer! Isn't it amazing how different the hunting laws are in each state. #00 buckshot, shooting from an ATV, using dogs...if I did what you did here in Illinois and got caught I'd probably lose my hunting rights for 10yrs., lose my ATV, my truck, my gun, the deer, and pay a hefty fine to boot. In other words, NC sounds like a cool place to live! 8) Gary
