GET'N CROWDED DOWN HERE

Post by flbuckmaster »

I've been really late getting my camera and feeder up this year, but after only 3 days now...things are already getting crowded.

I actually live in Sopchoppy, 40 miles south of Tallahassee between the Apalachicola National Forest and the St. Marks National wildlife Refuge.....in Gods country. We have a terrible bear problem down here. There hasn't been a season for bears in 30 years so they dont have much of a fear of man anymore. They are distructive sob's that take great delite in tearing up deer feeders, cameras, blinds, trash cans, barbeque grills, chicken pens, cars, campers, four wheelers, killing and eating dogs on chains, cattle and livestock, and any number of personal items left outdoors. You can imagine how many of them we have as they reproduce faster than deer as each sow can have as many as 3 cubs per year, with no predators. There is not a hunter in Florida that enjoys having them visiting their setup, and many are now killed by ruthless hunters by shooting them in the gut with 22 rifles, and letting them run off into the bush to die , a sad way of trying to control them. Getting off that subject, my feeder was put up on thursday and I collected 580 pictures on sunday afternoon, It was like the critters were hiding in the woods waiting for dinner to be served.

That is a brutal way to treat the bears even if they are a nuisance. They should at least use a humane method if they are going to do it. It's quite surprising that they wouldn't have a bear season with so many bears causing trouble around there??

WOW you weren't exaggerating about the crowding!!!!!

Sucks about the bears. I'm not sure I'd feel too comfortable in your woods there. My husband says I'm "bearanoid".... lol

Hey Jay, looks like you do have quite a crowd there. All the animals in your photos look very healthy. We have a ton of bears here as well and the same "wounding" problem  . I believe that they will eventually get caught and when they do    . The State of NC is very proud of their bear population and take this problem extremely seriously. Anyhow, have you got your hunting rig up and running? It looks like your going to need it soon  . We have seen the before pictures and are looking forward to some after pictures when you get em :D . Take care brother.
God Bless !!!!!!!!!

I still dont have a pain medicine yet that will allow me to sit up for a couple hours or so at a time. I Probably wont hunt until I can get a medicine that will make it tolorable while in my blind. Oxicontin, morphine sulfate, or oxicodone do not help.
