Hi all

Post by Outback »

Just signed up on the board. Have been eavesdropping for quite a while and decided to participate. I was out of the hunting for a quite a while (20 years, moved to southern Ont from the north). 3 years ago my good friend caught the hunting bug and put me back in touch with the real world. Bought the Excaliber Eqinox, WOW! dead accurate, powerful and just excitng to shoot. I much prefer x-bow hunting to gun hunting now. Getting your target to come close enough for the shot can be pretty challenging, it's been 3 years and alot of practice, but this season I took my first black bear @ 22 yards, yesterday I took my first deer @ 27 yards ( a button buck). This was a grudge shot ona counta I missed an 8 point buck Saturday @ 17 yards. A clear miss and case of buck fever Im sure. had the proper tag. Have passed on a couple bears, and a deer, this year also because I did'nt feel the shot would take the animal cleanly. I have found that since my taking up hunting with the x-bow one must use proper judgement and common sense.. To many tales this year (not from this site) I've personally heard of guys shooting at game on the fly with guns and bows only to wound and not retieve the animal or cleanly miss. anyhow I hope to be a regular contributer to this site and thanx for all the useful info to help me relive a lifestyle that I grew up with and pass on to my boys ( (9 &11 yrs and very good x-cal shooters). Thanx to Excaliber Crossbows for a fantastic product, a truely Canadian product. Please use good judgement and safety during every outing and it will pay off in the end. Great site thanx

Welcome aboard, Outback!

And yes, I'm the friend Outback mentioned (who got him back into hunting). What a great three years we have had together, along with my wife who also hunts. Allow me to post a picture of his bear!! I'm so proud of this guy...not only the best friend a guy could ask for, but a truly ethical hunter and outdoorsman. Way to go on your first deer too buddy!
