Young Lad's First Deer Harvest...with PICS

Post by slider »

My hunting buddy's son took this deer last night from a double stand with his father...a seasoned crossbow hunter.

This fella is 12 years old and completed his hunter safety apprenticeship program just a few weeks ago here in Ontario. He practiced his shooting with Dad's trusty excal a few days ago and sealed the deal last night. His father is very proud of this accomlishment and I am so excited for this young new hunter.

He earned his dues in the Dec controlled hunt dogging with the gang on a few runs. He was very calm and made a great shot on this deer as he had to stand up slowly in the stand to avoid a tree limb

7 yard shot....20 yard recovery

Excellent exit wound

The youth is the future of our hunting heritage and this is just the start for this young lad!!

What an exciting experience it must have been for both father and son! CONGRATS to the son for the great shot and harvest... and congrats to the Dad for taking his boy out into the woods with him! Nothing makes me happier than to see young people taking up the torch. :D
