My New Years Eve Buck

Post by Normous »

I was not looking forward to tag soup for the first time in 20 years. I hear it is not very good unless you really dress it up. It was not for the lack of field time but I just could not seem to get deer in for a proper shot this season. I started to wonder how hard I should kick myself for letting the first few ones walk, hoping something was bigger behind it.

This morning it was all or nothing, I situated myself against a tree in the middle of a nice thick bushlot loaded with deer tracks. A doe quickly passed on my left about 80 yards away. Behind her was this nice small racked 8 @ 2.5 years old. One grunt had him curious and coming my way. The 16 yard shot was deadly and the Rage 3 left the snow painted red for a smooth recovery.

I want to thank Patti for her help and being a great hunting partner.

Nice! There is just something about hunting in the snow. Now if we could use xbows in the U.P during late season.

That's a nice way to end the season!

The problem I'm having is that both my Buck tags are filled and that's all I seem to be bumping into now! :x Where were these Bucks back in November :!: :?: :?
Now therefore take, I pray thee, thy weapons, thy quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field, and take me some venison; And make me savoury meat, such as I love, and bring it to me, that I may eat; that my soul may bless thee before I die. Gen 27:3-4

Nice...........

Tried hard tonight but couldn't get r done.

Warming up with a few cold ones to kill the taste buds. May make the soup taste better...........
