Last Whitetail of 2010 ....

Post by R.J. »

A little wet today , but we put a crew together for a few local bushlot drives .

On the last drive around lunch time , we set up with Vic R. , Leon K. , and myself posted ...

Chris H , and Jim S. did a walk thru @ a small corner lot , we blocked the South /East ends .
( Wind was perfect ) .

Half way in , I hear Chris H. yell " Heads up guys " , as he bumped a small group ...

It happend real fast , Next thing I know , I have mutiple deer run by at different yardages ...
I was able to connect a 30 yard shot on a nice sized doe .
Excalibur Y25 Relayer
Carbon Laser 2 with 130 Grain WASP Broadhead .
Boo Custom String , Munch Custon Quiver Mount .
30 Yard Shot , quartering to , double lung , approx 100 yard recovery .

Half of my arrow .... and good bloodtrail .

Image

Leon K. drives around to put his dog on the track ... ( a bit of training )

Image

" Ivy " is Leon's young female German Munsterlander ... it doesn't take long for her to figure out the scent and she follows the bloodtrail to the doe , that expired approx 100 yards in the corn stubble field .

Image

Another Successfull Y25 Relayer harvest !

Image

Tagged , and ready to load , I get a quick shot of Chris H. , Vic R. , and Jim S.
( Thanks for the invite out Jim ) ..

I great way to end the 2010 season in our area !

Happy New Year all .... I hit the big 50 just after midnight tonight !

8) Good eating there for sure. Any deer taken this time of year is a good one. I put #4 in the freezer today, button buck same size as your doe, taken with White muzzleloader.

Congrats on the Doe. Looks like you guys had a blast! And Happy 5-0! Does this Officially make you an old fart?
Now therefore take, I pray thee, thy weapons, thy quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field, and take me some venison; And make me savoury meat, such as I love, and bring it to me, that I may eat; that my soul may bless thee before I die. Gen 27:3-4

Thats awesome!

Was the deer moving when you shot? Did you use the side reticle in the scope when you did it? I have tried to shoot game on the move a couple of times but it just feels wrong not having the crosshairs on them. Both times i ended up putting the crosshairs on them but what i thought was forward. Missed both :?
So im interested!
