Coyote's Rule

Post by wheelie »

Went out to one of the best deer bushs in our area last week with the bows and snowshoed about 4 miles and never seen a deer track. Just tons and tons of coyote tracks. You could see where rabbits were sheltering and coyote tracks coming into get them. "Houston, we have a problem!" Deer numbers were way down this year. Our deer bushs had no deer in them at all this year. Yet the MNR added second week of black powder. What the heck is going on?

Going out for coyote hard and heavy starting this morning. Will try to do my part to help.

I've killed 2 this year so far. One with my rifle, one with my bow. I missed two also, one with the rifle, one with the crossbow. No shortage of dogs around here. The winter is young. 8) Gary

I went out toward the end of December to one area I hunt and saw nothing but coyote tracks...lots of them. Going to get my hands on a rifle and hopefully knock down a few. I just haven't been able to get them into shotgun range when I have gone out specifically targeting them, but, have been able to call them into rifle range.

Shot the dog about 50 yards from the bait so I dragged it back for a pic. We did some howling and it was like minutes this one came across the field. 15 minutes later 2 more came across and stop looking at this one. Excitement effected the second shot :?

Okay, I see.

Thought it looked like he was shot in the shoulder area but wasn't sure if maybe a trap of some sort was used.
