New to the forum.

Post by cevans »

I just wanted to post a "Hello to all" as I will be asking a few questions now and then. I just received last nite from FedEx a new Exomax, firebolts, scope, all the bells and whistles, was up till 2am watching the DVD and putting it all together and playing with it. Went out at 8am this morning in 28 degree weather, set up couple of targets, shooting table, etc,,and got zero'd in at 10 yds, then 20. It took me about 10-12 shots and was rocking, then progressively moved the foam target back to 30, did 3 shots there, same for 40 and 50 and was super impressed at the accuracy with target points. Very nice equipment and I am super impressed with Excalibur and their equipment.

About myself, I have taken around 300 deer with every weapon we are allowed to hunt with in Indiana. I hope the state enacts all the new upcoming rules or I may just have to apply for a handicap permit to hunt with this. I can get one of those if I need it and will if I have to. I used to own a archery shop outside of Indy for 5 yrs, So I know a bit about archery. I have hunted and fished all over the North American continent a bit also. I didn't bow hunt for the past 8-9 yrs, cause I was burnt out on archery, so this has truly re-energized me and looking forward to the future. Have a great upcoming year everybody and I wish you all the best of hunting success!

Good to hear that you are re-energized.
Enjoy your new Excal.

First day on the forum myself. I just found out last week that my shoulder was now bone on bone and the M.D. said that my "Recurve and Compound " days were over. In his words "I guess now you have to use the "Dreaded Crossbow".
Well to be honest that was my exact thoughts also. I am 53 years old, got my first gun on my 6th birthday, started shooting archery later in life, but I love the sport. I just traded my MATTHEWS DRENALIN for the Excalibur Phoenix. Got back home and watched the video, set up the bow and went outside in the rain and tried it out at 20 yards. Out of the box, shot right about 1 inch center. I can see that I will have to get used to the noise though, like anything new. But, I am persistent. If any recommendations on the use of the crossbow as far as noise suppression or anything else, I am all ears. George, my Matthews dealer at East End Pawn in Middlesboro, Kentucky said that he has dealt with Excalibur for years and has never had an unsatisfied customer complaint.
