G 5 Montec one piece BH

Post by TonyBanks »

Dear all,
my search for a standard issue BH continues...I sort of decided upon the Slick Tricks, but then really at the end of the day prefer a solid one piece construction that I can resharpen. Also I wanted a one piece construction with practice heads as well...So I looked at the G 5 Montec again. Can get a practice "pre season head' identical to the hunting BH. I notice that the G5 Montec doesn't feature on any of the recent evaluations here for BHs that some of our members have contributed recently. Does this mean that it's not really used/not suitable for crossbow use? If someone can tell me whether it's a good head to use on a Vortex and Vixen tag team combo, (also for use in my other compound vertical as well...) I would really appreciate it. Then I can perhaps start bugging you all about arrows...
Regards,
Tony Banks

The G5 Montecs are great broadheads, I use them and SlickTricks exclusively with my Excalibur crossbows. I find both very accurate, dependable, and tough as nails. Unless you hit a rock they can be used over and over again.

Thanks for the heads-up! I just ordered some Montec 125's. Yesterday I ordered some Woodsman Elites from Three Rivers Archery, planning to try them with my vertical bow and carbon arrows. Probably switch around and try both (plus Slick Tricks) on my Excalibur arrows as well.

I have been using Montec for both my compound and my Excalibur. LOVE EM! I'd highly recommend them if you like the cut-on-contact BH's and they are super accurate.

For anyone who might reside in Northeast WI, I noticed that Fleet Farm stocks this item at a price below what I have seen online.

Bought some for a friend. I'm waiting for his feedback.
They look terrific and I like the idea of them also being available in training tips.
