Africa Bound!

Post by agingcrossbower »

Here is a stock I just completed for a gentlemen from New York how is going to hunt with it in Africa. How cool is that! Its got the stripes I crave. If your wondering about the length please remember it is custom and the owner wanted it 4 inches longer than the usual. Here you go.

Very unique indeed.
What kind of wood is that and what x-bow will he be mounting it on?

That wood is Curly maple with tiger strips. I knew it had potential but until the stain hits it you never know. He got extra lucky on the strips. I watch for good pieces that come along. Bad, part is the price comes with it. :(
Its going on an Exquinox excalibur.

Hey Aging, did that maple come from WI? I've heard the best had maple comes from your area. You call it "rock maple", right? I've also seen some nice tiger stripe stocks that came from the NC mountains years ago but have not seen a source for any in quite a while. Did you use potassium permanganate for stain? You can also use a torch to bring out the flame grain in that type of wood. Gary
