Sirrup protection

Good morning everyone,

The front part of my stirrup is getting scratched and chipped and... I think it's a shame !
I know it's something that can not be prevented -after all we press it hard on the ground - but I'd like to protect it.

I was planning to wrap it with a good ol' duck tape or get a plastic cover around it. Not very nice tho.

I'm sure someone already took care of this problem, I would like to know how you solved it !

My old wolverine, I just painted it to sharpen it up.

Cut a piece of plastic counter sunk two holes then drilled and tap the stirrup and screwed it on.

Rubber tape[only sticks to itself] or friction tape[same as rubber]

FOR SAFETY SAKE, make sure your foot can not slip out of the stirrup. World of hurt!!!

Derecks idea is a good one. I have black hockey tape on mine.

I use a few wraps of camo duct tape sometime but only because I am a wannbe redneck. On some of my bows I use clear 3M tape that is used for the leading edge of car hoods. It comes in rolls and body shops often have it.

Hey Folks,
Somebody on a forum, I cannot remember if it was this forum or another one, told me about a product called "Plasti Dip". They use it to dip tool handles that have no grips on them and they have dipped their stirrup in it to stop the vibration noise from traveling through the stirrup. I wonder if it would stay on to stop the stirrup from becoming all scratched? Has anyone tried that?

I have seen the plasti dip at home depot but have not tried it.

I wonder if you could use Linex like what they spray in truck beds for a liner. They will spray anything you want. Probably wouldn't cost anything to do and that stuff is like a tough as nails rubber type coating. Bet that would work awesome.

If you buy the bedliner in a can, say at Auto Zone,,as I coated everything by brush on my Jeep,,it eventually has rust working thru it, or where rocks have hit some of the surfaces,,it just doesn;t last. besided,,,I kinda like the looks of Battle Scars sometimes..

I've used the line-x stuff you can buy at the auto places like pep boys or auto zone on my rock guards on my RZR and they have held up great. I used the roll-on but you can get it in a can also.

Yeah Cevans, the stuff in the spray can isn't worth a hoot. I've used it before. But the Linex is a whole other animal. It is tough as it gets! If you removed your stirrup and taped in the proper spots and had it sprayed with the Linex, that would have to work awesome. Although black is the "standard" color, they make that stuff in all sorts of colors now too.
