In love with my Equinox.
Hi Everyone, I’m new to this forum. I’ve been a frequent visitor here for several months now and I’ve decided to quit being shy. This is a great forum! The courtesy and information are remarkable.
I love shooting my new Equinox. I’ve been shooting it as much as possible in preparation for the quickly approaching spring turkey season. Its wicked fast, death-to-fellow-arrows accurate at 50 yards and very sexy to my eyes! I recently lost sleep over the first ding I noted on its finish.
I’ve wanted to own an Excalibur ever since I first saw one in Roger Combs’s 1987 book, Crossbows. I was seven years old and the Relayer was Excalibur’s only crossbow. There is a great picture in that book of downed black bear accented with a cocked Relayer resting nearby. I remember admiring the sweep of its cocked limbs and fantasying about hunting bear in the bush with a crossbow. I think I may be a crossbow nut.
The use of a crossbow for hunting here in Iowa is permitted only with a special license, so I find myself more or less alone in my enthusiasm for crossbow shooting/hunting. Oh well, at least I have my Equinox! It also feels good to know that there are other crossbow shooters/hunters just keystrokes away. Thanks goodness for the internet!
Due to my budding love for target/field shooting I’ve decided to start building my own arrows. I’ve found many great posts on this topic here and I’m sure I going to have some questions of my own soon. Thanks in advance.
I plan on slowly customizing and tweaking my set-up. Not that it really needs any additional customization to function perfectly; it just seems to be the nature of my emerging illness.

Yeah . . .I know what you mean . . .most of us just use the factory set-up and never customize anything, not!BigKidLovesBows wrote:I plan on slowly customizing and tweaking my set-up. Not that it really needs any additional customization to function perfectly
Welcome to the forum! Keep us posted on your illness. Nobody here has died from it, yet.

Welcome to the forum and good to hear your lovin' that Equinox.
The acceptance and legal use of crossbows for hunting is spreading accross Canada and the U.S. so hopefully it will be legal to hunt with a crossbow in Iowa soon.
Good luck with your arrow building...there are lots of knowledgeable people here that will help you out.
Cheers! Jim.

Gun control is like trying to reduce drunk driving by making it tougher for sober people to own cars.

I hear that! Choosing to buy an Excalibur was easy. Choosing which Excalibur to buy was the tough part... I felt spoiled for choice.roly wrote:
