Post by FLA-XBOW »

Just wanted to see what kind of set ups everyone in the vortex club use ie bolts and broadheads. Mostly just yall whitetail hunters. Im new to crossbow hunting and have a 2011 Vortex with firebolts and Rage 2 125 grain broadheads.

wicked bow the vortex. I like the heaviest arrows myself. 2219's with 2" blazers and I shoot fixed blade broadheads. A broadside whitetail will barely slow the arrow down from what I've seen. My buddy shot a 6 point w/ same setup last year @ 40 yds and the arrow went far enough into an oak on the other side that he had to uscrew the shaft and leave the broadhead in the tree. It'll do a number on a moose too, I know you don't have them down there but ya got them big hawgs and the vortex with heavy arrows will be lethal on them no doubt.

p.s. you won't believe the hit those rages will put on a whitetail from that bow.

I use the 125 grain spitfire and like it a lot. Nothing wrong with what you are using 8) and I am thinking about trying the 125 -2 blade rage myself. :) LOVE THE VORTEX
I am a hunter and proud of it.

I'm using my own arrows (GT Lazer II shaft, 110 brass inserts, 2" Blazers or Fusion set a slight right helical with original green AZ EZ Fletch) that weigh 405 gr with 100 gr Slick Trick mags or MAP Spitfires of same weight. Using my own 32 strand Dyna Flight Plus Flemish string it's chroning just tad under 320 fps. Sweeet!

Welcome my southern neighbor!!!!
I hail from the swamps of lowest jawga!!! Lol
To get in the 320fps range you will need to be using a fff string (excal flemish fast flight) or a good custom string.
I'm shooting a JBK custom string, excal firebolts(268gr) and 125gr spitfires. My total arrow weight is 393gr...chrony at 318fps!!
