Post by gendoc »

weight must include bh/mbh... don't really care which bh/mbh you have just the arrows total weight for deer hunting.

if ya shoot hawgs too like me, then what weight you use for hawgs?

my favorite total arrow weight is 500gr for deer and hawg. my vortex will sling'um bout 290fps.

My total weight including shaft, inserts, fletching and broadhead is 343gr for the Vortex and 357 gr for my Equinox. That has plenty enough KE for any large deer in Southern Ontario. I just prefer the fast flat trajectory from these arrows. I built, match and tune them myself and they have not disapointed me in any way.

wellb eing that they hemmorage them and not shock them , its moe about shot placement anyway no substitute fo that, eveything should be a balance speed and ke , i just like the foc for aaccuacy down range and as we have some big bruins nice to know that should get some penetration , there is no0 one answer to what best weight , speed unless you headed to the dark continent and definitley need some kinetic enegy or end up as a water buffalo victim nice link

I'm shooting firebolts and 125gr spitfires for a total weight of 393grains.
Plenty for any deer in georgia...good on hawgs up to about 200 lbs, i would like a heavier arrow for the bigger hawgs but i'm to dang old to drag them anyway!!

405 grains with the Phoenix and Vortex, 445 with the faster compound.
Vortex, Phoenix, single-shot rifles and handguns.

hmmmmmmm... i see some of yall like a bit more speed than me.
i need to light'n up a few arrows and try them on some hawgs.
would be good for further shots for sure !!! sometimes i wait hours for them to get closer... they will wonder off between roots look'n for grubs and stuff.
but they always come back to the main root.
my whitetail always walks under me or not much further than 20yrds away
so speed is not important but KE is, so i don't havta bloodtrail on my hands and knees thru tha swamp. i don't know if yall have ever hada bloodtrail hit water !!! it just adds hours to your prize.

thanks for all yall's input... its greatly appreciated
