Climbing Tree stand Recommendations

Post by gridironcoach »

Can anyone recommend a quality climbing stand to use with my Excalibur? I'm 6'3" and weigh about 230, so I'm looking for something that I can fit comfortably in.

Thanks,

John

I am 6'4" and 230 lb. I have been using the Summit Bullet (folding version of the Viper) and give this model 10/10 in my opinion. Very stable, comfy, quiet and cradles the Equinox well over the cross bar. A tall guy would appreciate the foot extension option, worth the money.

I started using the summit viper with foot extention last season and find it very comfy. I did a lot of research before i settled on the summit and i don't regret my decision at all.

X2 on the summit viper...ive been using summits since 93 and have always felt save ..lots of room and comfortable all day..
if i ever try something diff it would be a tree walker.
I like the design but i still dont think they are as comfortable as the summit..

The Tree Lounge is a great stand and very very comfortable. The only thing about them is that a pack mule doesn't come with them when you buy, they are heavy. I like to chain or cable them around the tree and leave them all season so I don't have to haul them in and out.

I've used the Summit Viper as well. I'm a big girl with a big bottom and I've found it to be a very comfortable seat - the only problem is that I might get too comfortable.

The seats are also quite warm in cold weather as well.

I don't like to haul it around though. If you'd ever seen me geared up to hunt you know I carry a backpack with a pile of "just in case" stuff - when I toss than on the climber and traipse into the woods I feel overloaded.

I've used Summits, Lone Wolfs, and other treestands and none of them compare to a TreeWalker. They are only sold at outdoor shows and some independant stores but you can order them online directly from their website. Made by a father and son in Tennessee. I got one last year after buying an Excalibur Exomax and love it. Its the most comfortable, lightest, best made stand anywhere. Only negative about them is the cost, but they are worth it! Super stable, easy to climb with, and multi-configurable. Just google TreeWalker stands and you'll see that everyone loves them that has one. :D

Ive used both summits and lone wolf climbing stands.
I started with a summit bushmaster and must say there suspended seat is very comfy.the summit was noisy and bulky to carry through the bush.
I have a lone wolf hand climber and just love it.This stand is light easy to backpack and very quiet to setup. The handclimber seat isnt the most comfy for long periods of time compared to the summit seat.
I usually only sit for 3 hours so its a trade off.
My opinion buy a lone wolf as you wont be dissapointed.
