Help - I'm an idiot

Post by stonecold »

Fitted the SS last week and went to put a few twists in the string, unfortunately I seem tio have gone over the top of the spring arrow finger when drawing back with the stringer with the cocking aid and bent the finger so it no longer gets lifted upo by the arrow as its slid back !

Is there an easy way to dissasemble the bow so I can straighten the spring finger ?

Thanks in Advance

If you take off the scope mount then you can access the 2 screws for the arrow retainer. Your not the first to do it, so no, your not an idiot

I'm guilty too. I used needle nose pliers to straighten mine and that worked well.
Probably need to go ahead and order another one and change it before the season begins in September.

Just make sure you have not reversed the hold down spring screws . Or you will have problems .

Im glad we have a guy like doemaster who is very knowlegable about the internals of an excalibur. :D what happens if they are reversed Kevin? Do they interfere with the trigger? Is one visibly longer than the other?

Do yourself a favour and put more curl on the forward end of the arrow retainer so the string is less likely to ride over it again.

Yup :) Neil one is longer than the other and yes it will interfere with the catch .

when taking off the scope base make sure you use the proper allen wrench and one that is in good shape. be careful to not over tighten. its easy to round those screws if your heavy handed. a little loc tite might be a good idea .
