First Groundhog (picture added)

Post by wheelie »

Well, not me. Wife called me home from work and said my young beagle was behind the tunnel I built for the dogs and he is yelping for a half hour strait. Even the nabours can't get at him. He won't come out. She said she believes he is hurt. I rushed home and took the tunnel apart and there was my young beagle laying on top of his dead groundhog. I praised him for his effort and then took it way from him. Checked the dog out and not even a scratch on him. I will keep an eye on him and all my dogs are up to date on shots and flee protection. :D :D :D No sign of him trying to eat it. I feel like a proud poppa.

I wish we still had groundhogs to shoot. The coyotes have made them nearly extinct around here. Haven't seen one in years. Gary

Super, he knows he can get them now, he'll run his nose in every hole he finds in the woods.

Good doggie !! Have had several small dogs that became die hard ground hog hunters . They ended up eating them as well, once they started I could not shake them of the habit. It did cut down on the bean picker population significantly !
