1st Excalibur Crossbow
Hello all, I am new to crossbows as well as hunting and need some advice. At the end of this week I am going to pick up my first crossbow and have narrowed down my choice to two: Axiom and Ibex. What is everyone's thoughts on this? Price is a factor however.
Thanks for any help in advance

Welcome to the forum!!
Can't go wrong with either one...axiom is basically a phoniex with a synthetic rail and no diss. Pads, basic scope and different camo pattern.
Ibex is a thumbhole phoniex...all are great bows and deadly accurate!!

Welcome to the forum Kato
Both bows are great and won't dissapoint you
Although the thumbhole stock may take a little
bit to get use to.

Re: 1st Excalibur Crossbow
Welcome to the forum Kato, like stated in the above posts both have a 175 lb. draw-weight. So both should shoot comparable.
The notable differences are cosmetic. The Ibex has an aluminum rail and perhaps somewhat more esthetically pleasing. It also has a thumbhole stock and it`s length of pull is approx. half an inch shorter than the Axiom.
In the end the one you choose should be based on which fits and suits your needs better, and which you feel will make you proud and happy to own in the years to come.

Re: 1st Excalibur Crossbow
I think the Axiom is perfect for the hunter. But if you are an arrow junkie shooting a few thousand shots a year you might want to look at the Ibex. If you spot and stalk you deer think real hard about the grip configuration. I prefer the thumbhole stock for that kind of work.
Some people just like stepping on rakes
Re: 1st Excalibur Crossbow
I find if you are a taller person the traditional stock fits a taller person better. I owned a traditional stock and went to the thumb hole stock and now wish I would have went back to a traditional stock. Even with the butt extender it is still not the same feel. That was the feeling between the two different models of stocks for me where I am a taller person.
Thank you,
Raymond

Re: 1st Excalibur Crossbow
How I chose between a thumb hole and traditional stock was to pick a point on the wall, close my eyes and raise the bow, then I opened my eyes to see how close to that point the sight was. After doing that about 20 times I chose the Exocet over the Vortex because it came up to that point more naturally.
