Goldtip Laser II?

Post by arnettjd10 »

I just ordered 6 of these and i was wondering if anybody here has used them with their Excals? How do they perform and how do they hold up? The only reason i purchased the Goldtips is because i can buy those with brass inserts already in them. It saves me some time and trouble. I wish Excal would sell firebolts with brass inserts already installed.

It's all I use from 3 bows. Make my own for < $50.00 a dozen. Hold up well (unless I hit one with another one :D )

GT II is all I use and I bet a lot of folks on this Forum us them. They fly great just make sure you don't aim at the same spot on your target every time you shoot or you'll be buying more otherwise.

Is this a decent price for them? It looks like the only thing missing is the insert

I'm not sure where you're located, USA or Canada, but that price looks pretty good to me if they're complete arrows.
Now therefore take, I pray thee, thy weapons, thy quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field, and take me some venison; And make me savoury meat, such as I love, and bring it to me, that I may eat; that my soul may bless thee before I die. Gen 27:3-4

Gold Tips are all I use. Got a dozen "naked" shafts from Bowhunters Superstore and make 'em up myself. A dozen will last a long time if you take care. I use acetone to remove all the logo stuff before I wrap and fletch.

The price is ok. Those are 4" vanes pictured and look like plastic nockd-which I don't use. Insert should be 110 grs.for FOC around 16-18%

I always have used Laser II shafts and will continue until I destroy / lose what I have. That will be quite some time since my inventory is up around 12.

The only concern I have with them is the inconsistency in the bare shaft weights. Some vary as much as 50 grains. I make my own and am quite picky matching my arrow weights.

Would like to try the Carbon Express Maxima Hunter cross bow shafts. I use these with my compound bow and purchased 6 shafts on 2 separate occasions and all are consistently the same weight. They are not cheap though.
If the thrill of the hunt is lost, then I have lost.
