Help with choosing crossbow

Post by e11indick »

Hi will be buying my first crossbow this year.hopefully within the next week. I will be mainly hunting white tail in PA with this bow. Any suggestions? I believe I have narrowed it down to the following exomax, vortex and ibex.

Looks like you have it narrowed down to some great choices. It's so much of a personal choice from there. We could give you a ton of reasons to choose Excalibur . . .but, helping you decide between them will only confuse you.

If you have the opportunity to hold them and to shoot them, then do that. Buy the one that "fits you" best. The one that feels most comfortable in your hands when shooting it . . .that's the one for you.

Either of them will easily kill the deer you are hunting. They are all extremely accurate.

Let us know which one you choose.

Welcome, not much to add to what muskyman and summer had to say. The only thing I will add is with the thumbhole stocks you will have to take your hand away from the grip to take it off safety, with a traditional stock you can use your thumb. Jujst throwing that in there. :D

Same from me! :)

I will add that I own a Vortex and love it. I find it to be a good all around x-bow. Good luck with your purchase.

I have the vortex and love it. Have no problems at all with the thumb hole stock , I think the grip feels much better when you shoulder the stock and don't have to place your thumb over the stock. I have no problem at all taking the safety off and don't feel this is an issue with a thumb hole stock.IMO Like the other posters said YOU have to try each one and make up your own mind. For deer hunting in PA you really don't need 225 pound draw weight, plus they are hard on strings. Any of the lesser poundage xbows will be fine. Again YOU must decide which one you like best. Good luck. As long as it is an excalibur you can't go wrong. WELCOME ABORAD A GREAT FORUM

I saw that, but, figured he was serious or he would have used "chasing" instead of "hunting", eh??
