Refresher---with scope---?

Have been doing some more playing with my old Vixen and it's old dropzone scope;and using a body measurement of 13 inches just behind front leg of a whitetail decoy;and using the scope markings at measured distances of 20 yards and thirty yards I have found that--at 30 yards the body [13 inches] is between the 10yard marker and the 30 yard marker. however if I go to 20 yards
the body is between the 10 yard and forty yard markers. This is for those days
when I forgot my range finder or am in an unfamiliar place for a quickie hunt.
Besides I am one of the worlds worst range estimators.The use of 13 inches is just a guestimate. Hope this helps somebody.
