which one would you shoot?

Post by wabi »

Every year I watch the pics of the bucks coming to the feeder and pick one to harvest. This year there isn't much in the way of big racks showing up, but the two 8 pointers are regular visitors with even occasional daytime appearances.
Now I've got to make a decision of which one to target this year. :?

(I never actually hold out for the ones I pick, I simply shoot the first buck that presents a good shot most years, but it's fun to fantasize. )

The first one I like his symmetrical antlers.
But where I hunt I will have to settle for whatever comes my way unless it still has spots.

I would take the second one as he is an older deer and getting to be past his prime. The first one still has some good breeding here left to pass on his genes!

Either are shooters , but number 2 deer would be my 1st choice . Good width to the rack

Tough choice. Second one looks like he may be a couple pounds heavier = more meat in the freezer. I like the rack on the first one a bit more though. I would probably be like you and take whichever one turns broadside first.

I agree, the 2nd one looks good to me - but I would take either and be happy I had them

Fer me the 2nd one, if both came out at the same time.....But I'am not usually to picky about deers head gear, I mostly end up hunting horns, I know i can't eat the horns, but I can look at them long after the meat is gone

strictly based on looks, I like the wide 8 more. Guarantee both are tasty though!

They are both great deer to take, but if they were both in range at the same time, I'd be takin a shot at the second one.
