Daugthers First Deer with her Compound!

Post by Jackbass »

After harvesting her first four deer with my Excal, My daughter decide that she wanted to try a compound bow. Last night Morgan and I sat for our first hunt together this season. It was also her first hunt with her compound.(Birthday Present). I put my portable stand beside one of our ladder stands so I could assist her with drawing her bow. At 40lbs she just can't turn the cams over yet. At 7:00pm I seen a buck come across the road. H e was alittle unsure if he wanted to cross or go back to the bush. After circling on the road twice he made his way towards us. We were positioned on the edge of the corn field. The buck went behind some bushes and I could not see him for a few seconds. The next thing I knew he was heading right towards us, one row deep in the corn. He was about 15 yds away and we drew the bow. He continued walking our way. Morgan was at full draw and just before the buck cleared the trees in front of us he stopped and looked in our direction. I thought he was going to wind us or see us . Morgan was starting to shake from nerves and holding her draw. After about 20 secs the buck took three steps and gave Morgan a 12yd quartering away shot. She placed the arrow perfectly taking out both lungs and cutting the arteries off the top of the heart. Surprisingly the buck made it about 400yds. He left a great blood trail for us to follow. After the shot we were both shaking pretty bad. I get more joy out of watching her harvest an animal than taking one myself. Bow -Bear Young Guns 2 - The Truth. 40lb Draw Weight. Beman ICS Junior Arrow. Muzzy 4 Blade 100g Broadhead.

Congratulation to both of you!!!!!!!!!

A good example of what a well placed broadhead from even a light draw weight bow will do.
