The deer activity has been heating up for the last week and last night I decided to head out to the tree stand again to see what would happen.I had my friend Dan from work along and he was trying to tag his first ever deer.We went to a new farm that I got this year that is torn up with scrapes and rubs and tracks everywhere.Dan was in a ground blind and I was in my climber. For most of the evening I had three tractors,a four wheeler and at least four people working on the neighbouring farms apple orchard and the were playing loud music and yelling at each other all night so I figured my night was a bust but maybe Dan would have some luck. Just after six they all went back to their house and the woods were quiet again.Shortly after that I could see three does pop out on the field close to Dan but they never did come close enough for him. When we were nearly out of shooting light I decided it was time to climb down so I took the bolt off my bow and started putting things away.I had just finished unhooked both straps for the seat portion of my climber when I suddenly heard loud and fast foot steps coming towards me. It was still shooting light so I quickly put a bolt back on the bow and in came this rut crazed buck right at me.He came beside my tree at ten yards and when he got into an opening I sent the bolt his way with my exomax! There was a loud crack and be bucked and then ran about thirty yards into the standing bean field and stopped to look around.I knew he was hit and after a couple seconds he started to wobble, then he went up on his hind legs like a bucking bronco and down he went! Maybe five or six seconds after the shot in plain view! This made for a very easy recovery with the four wheeler! Even the farmer was happy and he said that I could come back out anytime! This buck has a huge body and I figure he's at least a four year old.Now I will have a nice wide eight pointer to hang out on my wall with last years buck! All my scouting and hard work has paid off big time!

Now therefore take, I pray thee, thy weapons, thy quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field, and take me some venison; And make me savoury meat, such as I love, and bring it to me, that I may eat; that my soul may bless thee before I die. Gen 27:3-4
