From experience, they're pretty much useless without the 12v battery add on, which is another $60.00, unless you do a build-your-own, which isn't too difficult. They're major battery hogs. If you just put regular batteries into them, they'll last about a week.

They are also very slow on the trigger for the camera, so they're best used in a location where the deer are going to stop, like a mineral station, a feeder or a bait pile. I had a lot of pictures of deer butts on mine.

I have since switched to the HCO ScoutGuards...and I'm very happy with them. Battery life is amazing, picture quality is adequate for my needs and they have a decent trigger speed.

I have some StealthCams from 2004. Tried a 38mm before that and the film would not advance. StealthCam was good about sending me a new one, and I gave it to someone for an Xmas present. Got two dijitals. They worked good. The time/day was always needing to be reset in one of them. Kind of a pain but they worked. Would go through batteries in a couple of days of heavy use. Had to get the expensive Lithium batteries and would last a week or so. The model I have has special software on the computer for downloading pictures. The software quit working one day after my X-brother-in-law used my computer and I never could get it to work again. Still have them but can't download pictures.

Yea, the trigger spead was often an issue with mine too. Had to put them on a corn pile or something. On a trail, mostly back ends and blank pictures.

I have a friend who has about a half dozen Cuddiebacks and he is happy with them. He said he tried a newer StealthCam and was not happy.

Hope this is helpful.

Which one is it MX2? I picked up the Stealth Sniper which was $199.00 for $79.99 a few weeks ago in Brantford and I have had it in the field for about 2.5 weeks and I am quite happy with what I am getting in return so far.

Saw that special too and searched the internet for reviews. Apparently eat-up batteries and trigger speed very slow. I decided to NOT buy one!
