End of Regular bow season report

This is my firs year hunting with a crossbow, Excalibur Equinox. I had been a bow hunter but age and bad left shoulder left me unable to hold a long bow.

I fired 4 shots this year, I missed an armadillo at 28 yds, shot a buck at 36 yds, shot a doe at 28yds, and missed a doe at 34 yds (my right limb hit the tree the tree stand was hooked to. It takes some time getting used to something wide and not long). I used X-Act 100 gr mechanicals on Lumenok Firebolts.

For me its Excalibur all the way! What a fine machine. Keep it clean and lubed, use the correct bolts, take a resonable shot, and its dinner on the table.

My only mistake was not buying an Excalibur years ago.

I got my Excalibur at an estate auction three years ago. Got it cheap because most people here can't legally hunt with a crossbow in WVa. First time shooting it I was hooked. I was shooting two inch groups at 50 yards with it off a rest. I have not hunted with my Hoyt across the border in VA from that day on. I even sold my muzzleloader. Killed a small buck with it on my birthday this year. Have taken a turkey, bear, three does and two bucks with it. Excals are accurate and deadly. I hope that one day I'll be able to hunt in my own state with it. My deer season is almost over as I don't have any private land to hunt and there is no way in hell I'd hunt public land during rifle season. Bear season is around the corner and that's what I love the most anyways. Hope to get another doe during late season if I can but I got two in the freezer so it will be OK if I don't.
