Congratulations to you guys.:) Enjoy your tasty button buck. Great pic, too. Deer must seem to be HUGE when you're a kid.

Thanks for all the congratulations!
Got up during the night to take an ibuprofen for my back, but it's still worth the efforts and little bit of pain to see my son enjoying the outdoors.

Wife asked if he could kill any more this season and I told her I believe he could shoot up to 5 more and I could still get 3 tags, but I think we'll have enough venison now with 4 in the freezer and pantry (canned some, too).

I need to find out if he can get another youth tag @ $12 instead of $24 for a regular tag like I buy. I might make him the designated meat hunter in the family if he can shoot them with 1/2 priced tags.
The state DNR site isn't clear on it and lists youth either sex tags @ $12 and antlerless only tags @ $15 for youth hunters, but doesn't say anything about how many can be purchased in a season.

I've been thinking of getting him a Vixen since they shortened the stock on that model. Looks like I'll have to start saving for his birthday gift next summer.
I already have Christmas gifts bought for him, and I figure summer would be best for something like a crossbow, anyway - give him plenty of time and good weather to become familiar with it.

He's 11 now.

I'll be 61 tomorrow.

Don't have an excuse for him, but that might help explain my lack of a big ear-to-ear grin most days.
