Not A Excal Harvest

Not a Crossbow Harvest

I thought i would share. Are gun season came in Monday. The first day i saw 5 deer. 2nd day 2 deer.
Then Wednesday morning i saw one button. I went back out at 12:00. The first spot i planed to hunt the wind was wrong. Changed plans about a 5 min walk wind was wrong there also. So up over the point now the wind is in my face. I get set up (ground) i might have been there 10min. Down over the hill i saw a doe then him yep him. The doe is walking up the hill about 100yds out in front of me and he is in tow. Now he breaks off she comes with in 75yds and i have lost the buck. Wait there he is i turn the scope up to 14 power. He must have moved i lost him again. Now there's 3 deer where the doe was but not him. Where did he go my mind is going through the i saw a slob but he got away story. Then bang there he is. He is above the does and walking toward them. I wait until he stops but the shoulder is covered by limbs. I move the cross hair back (lungs). He is 150yds and I'm shooting free hand. I flip the safety take a deep breath blow about 1/2 of it out. And the cross hair locks dead still on him. I touch the trigger i see him kick and run. I watch him run about 20yds and cant see him.I unload the custom Rem. 700 single shot. And reload trust me quickly. I raise the scope just in time to see him stagger and go down.
Now I'm thinking did i just shoot what i thought i shot. As i got closer i thought no i didn't he is bigger. Then that yyyyyyeeeeeeessssssss!!!!!! feeling comes.
Not a huge buck by some standards but for a up the hollow behind the house Wv buck. He is the HIM.

Mighty fine looking buck, great job on the hunt. West Virginia holds a lot of deer every time we go thru there we see them all over the road side dead and alive.
