O/T Somewhat - Needed More Room

Post by Sandman »

Hello all,

I grew up on a very large farm (500 acres) in Port Hope, ON but when it came time to take over the farm I chose to pursue other career options (to my father's dissapointment I'm sure) and left for the big city.

Here I am now some 26 years later thinking/wondering if I made the right decision .... One of the things that cant help me wish I was on the farm still was "space" in the form of a garage. I'm in the city and have a "small" detached garage that is always never enough space for mostly my hunting equipment.

The doors that you can see are at the back of my garage that open to my 1/2 acre lot that with some luck I can build my dream garage someday!

I can't afford to build a larger garage at this time but I recently was given a 20 x 20 portable garage that I McGuivered to suit my needs. I built a 14 x 12 pad at the back of my garage and adapted the portable garage to suit my needs. I wasnt too sure with the end flaps that came with it so I framed in my own end wall ...

Wow what a difference it makes.

I have not been able to get out into the field for the past couple of weeks so I thought I would share the reason why .....

Cheers,

Well THAT is a good reason not to get out and hunt - making more room for hunting gear! :D :D

Sounds like a good investment of your time and energy, and it looks like it's already paid off well!

When we bought our little house my Dad said we should look for one with a garage instead. I thought "what's the big deal with a garage?" I wasn't used to parking one and the shed would do for storage. But Dad was so right! Our house is small with little storage space and there have been many times that I wish we had a garage for our hunting gear.

Good for you for being so resourceful and expanding your "playroom"! :D

You are sooooo right Vix ... Your father's advice sounds so familiar. I wanted a large detached garage but I settled for a wartime home with 3/4 of an acre with any luck can produce my ultimate "hunting room" .. I mean garage~!

Hey that looks good! Nice job.

I know how you feel. I moved from a 2 acre lot with a 2 1/2 car garage and two 24 x 36 pole barns. Now I live in town with no garage and only a 10 x 10 shed! What a pain in the @ss when it comes to storing stuff.

No matter what size you get---It will never be big enough. Especially when other people {wife} says---oh there is room for some of my stuff in there.

Well i do hope you get to build another one or add more room onto yer storage/garage. We only have a 12'x18' cabin no storage or garage, but someday.
