2 deer with a very expencive weapon

Following a brand new F-150 (30 day tag)
When a buck and doe came out from the side of the road and slammed into the bed of the truck.
The truck spun and came to a stop.
We slammed on are brakes to make sure everyone was all right.
The gentleman was highly upset he just picked the truck up yesturday.
The 2 deer were laying in the road.
Police and dnr were called and 20minutes later dnr shows up still waiting on police.
The new truck owner wanted to make a few trips over the deer and wanted to just leave them on the road.
Well after talking and calming the man down the dnr officer asked if we would like the deer.
With only severe head wounds I did not say no.
The police did finally show up a hour after the deer attack on the vechile ( that is how they wrote it up. (I want to see the insurance adjuster on that)
But they are both hanging right now
The truck will be totaled
And I am makeing some jerky for truck owner

Sounds like the truck owner might be in favor of reducing the deer population. Tough way to get people to support hunters, but it usually works.
At least the deer were not wasted.

One season several years ago I had finished my smoked deer sausage before season was even over. Was feeling down about it and sure enough, on the way home from work about a week after season went out, two ladies in a car hit a nice 4-point right in front of me. Both his antlers popped off in the middle of the road. I stopped and was able to take the deer home to make sausage. The two ladies were crying their eyes out about having killed the deer. THe police man told them it was going to feed a needy family and it made them feel better.

Great that it wasn't too badly damaged and didn't go to waste.

Sorry to hear about the new truck - that must really have hurt. Very kind of you to make the gentleman some condolence jerky though!

The man hit the deer and was on the road crying saying just get it out of here and his wife was telling him to grow up

Year ago I was in the right place at the right time. An 18 wheeler in front of me hit a deer and kept on trucking down the road. I stopped to move the deer off of the road and noticed that it did not appear badly damaged. so I call the police and got it tagged. upon skinning it it appeared that the truck only hit the head and the neck was broken. I ended up throwing out only about 4 oz of meat at the break site Not bad for a road kill.

I guess deer are smarter than we give them credit for. Even they don't like Fords.

I've hit a couple over the years but had even more close calls with the critters. One of the most memorable was one night in high school coming back from my girlfriend's house. A car was coming toward me when 3 deer jumped out into the road in front of me. They moved to the center of the road and the other car and I literally passed on either side of the deer at the same time, both doing about 45 mph or so. Neither one us hit the deer, but you talk about a pucker factor!
