Re: Finally
A super fine trophy of a doe; my question is on the bee-keeper smoke; what did you use? a wood smelling smoke or something else; I am very interested in finding out how this works on scent control; thank you for your time and for posting.
Re: Finally
Another thread topic about ground blinds contained several comments about scent control. One member described his use of the small, stainless steel smoker that beekeepers used to calm the colony when they remove honey. I knew that native Americans of the past often used smoke from fires to cover their scent and other comments in the thread explored the scientific basis for two primary components in smoke that destroys bacteria which is one cause of body odor.
A quick search of the web located a supplier that shipped one to my door for less than $30.00. Some dried leaves , pine needles, twigs, etc. and an elongated butane lighter produces a quick little fire. The lid is closed and the small attached bellows directs a large volume of smoke out the little spout to wherever its pointed. As with any element of scent control it is not a cure for sloppiness but it can be a helpful, effective element when properly used.
