Crossbow storage

Post by Stu »

Hi all,

So I'm the proud new owner of an Excalibur Ibex! :D Loving the bow so far - everything I expected it would be.

Now this might seem like a somewhat arbitrary question, but it never hurts to ask.
Is it ok to store one's crossbow (indefinitely) as shown in the picture below, ie. hanging from the stirrup.

Thanks

Yep, you're good to go.

That's exactly how mine is stored when not in use. Sometimes only for a week or two and sometimes for months at a time. When it's gonna be more than a couple weeks I'll slip it into the soft case/cover with just the stirrup sticking out to keep the dust off it.

That's how I prefer to put my crossbow when I'm not shooting it. I like to look at it. :D It hangs on the coat hangers in the big front foyer.

Probably not the only one but most folks leave them strung. :)

Mine stays strung from the end of Sept. 'till January 31, the whole bow season. After that I remove the dissipator bars and take off the string to relax the limbs. Come fall it's easy to reinstall. I feel it's better for the limbs, but who knows.
