NJ Bear

Post by noons »

A 829 Lb black bear was taken during the 5 day season. It was shot about a quarter mile from my house. I've seen this bear many times. It use to lay on my front lawn and eat acorns. Its a monster!

That is a huge bear. Looks like the state record for NJ was broken on December 8, 2011, with a 776 pound bear... only to be broken again on December 9, 2011, with this 829 pound bear.

Looks like the world record black bear may be 879 pounds. I could not confirm.

I was in New Jersey the week those bears were killed. I was asked to ride along on a last minute bear hunt. 8 hour drive across from Ohio. (took 80 all the way in) Never been anywhere close to Jersey... had a BLAST. Saw a couple of bear, but no shots. 3 of us where hunting and we got 2. 300 lb. female and a 400 lb. male. One of the funnest things I've ever done. The part of Jersey where we were at was beautiful... rocks ledges, hills, valleys... it was awesome! I had no idea. Can't wait to go back. One of those big bears was one of the guys we were hunting with Taxidermist. $135 deer tag and $2 bear tag for out of staters... what a deal!

I saw the pics of that big boy! He's huge! Makes the truck he's in look so small!

The North West part of NJ is probably the most beautiful part of the state. probably the last part that hasn't been devoured by the city.I live in South Jersey where its the suburb of Philadelphia.but farther South in NJ its still alot of farm land left. I would gladly move, cant talk my wife into leaving the kids & grandson behind. I would go north to Maine or Vermont.Maine is really beautiful state.
