First Crossbow

Post by Hester0305 »

I have a Vortex on the way for my first crossbow and I'm waiting with excitement to shoot it and possibly hunt with it by the end of the week. I have shot 3D and hunted with compounds for about 25 years this will definitely be a change. I'm not hanging up the compound just yet because I love to compete in the 3D tournaments. I have killed 5 deer so far this year, 4 with my compound and one with rifle I would like to fill my last tag with my crossbow. I have been reading a lot about crossbows and looking at the forums just can't wait to get started shooting.

Welcome to the forum.
Sounds like you already know where to put the broadhead to drop a deer, the Vortex is accurate enough to do the job, too!

Hey Hester 0305, and welcome.

You must live in a deer rich environment, 'cause 5 deer is more than I've seen all season!

Go get 'em.

From one forum newbie to another..........welcome aboard.

I'll be looking for a vortex myself next year.
Money is too tight right now.
I currently shoot a 200 lb. exomag.

These crossbows are so easy to set up and shoot that you hardly need a manual.

But do pay attention to all safety warnings!!!

Keep us posted on how things go.

Thanks everyone, I live in N.C. we have plenty of deer but it seems the big deer are hard to find once the firearms season kicks in. I have 3 different tracts of land I hunt one is archery only because of being in the city limits. I killed a nice 10 pt with my rifle 2 years in a row. I have seen a lot of deer this year but didn't have the opportunity at a big deer with my bow. Our season ends this Saturday I was hoping my Vortex would be here by then to try and fill that last tag. Good luck to everyone and happy hunting

In Rutherford and Cleveland County ours season ends this Saturday the 24th, we don't get the luxury into January just yet but it may be coming soon.

Thanks so much it should be in tomorrow then I can start tinkering with it a little and see if its likes my Rage 3 blades. I believe once I get started shooting with it some I will really like it.

So fill us in, did it make it, will you be able to try to break it in before season is out?
