Vix, I try my best to get the "wow" in every stock I build. I have no interest in building one just to get it done. When I make one and the customer does'nt say WoW, I have failed. Same thing with duplicates. They are boring to me and If I make two alike its would be by accident. By the way I am just about full with customers for the year 2012. For sure before the hunting season so anyone out there considering, you need to get on the list or wait a while. Thanks to everyone for your interest in my stocks and keeping me busy. It means a lot to me. :D

The carving looks great! And thanks Gary too! I just LOVE one of a kind things and things made from wood. WOW WOW WOW and I havent seen the final product yet :D
To be a vegetarian is to listen to the live carrot gradually screaming as it drowns in a pot of boiling water …. Which is more ethical to you ?? :roll: :lol:

I have been sanding the stock down with 80grit, 180,and then 320. The magnifing glasses work great for this. You would be surprised at all the scratches you see with them. Next I am going to dampen the stock and then dry it with my heater blower and 320grit sand the hair off. This gets done four or five times or until no hair comes up after dampening. The reason this is done is because you don't want the finish going on and the hair rises leaving a rough stock. Here are some pics;

Wet it down four times and sanded it lightly with 320grit. After supper I put the first coat of finish on. :D
