My 1st Excalibur Whitetail Doe

Post by HIGHBOW »

Image

I went out this morning with hope of getting my first deer with the new Axiom.
I was in the stand about 45 min. and heard several deer coming my way downwind from my stand. I was worried that they might wind me and then I started trying pick my shot as they were coming in behind me. It was then that they all 9 does spooked and I saw a small buck was coming in towards them. They split up and I had to spin around to my left and at 20 yards this doe stepped out between two trees. I put the cross hairs on her lung area and pulled the trigger. In 8 seconds she was laying 40 yards from my stand and out. The blood trail was like you painted the hillside and I feel so good that my first harvest was fast and as good as any shot I ever made with my compound bow hunts. Excalibur has finally given me the chance to get into the bow hunting that I have missed so badly the past four years. I was afraid that my shoulder injury and bad rotor had put a end to the sport I love so much. Thank You EXCALIBUR and I hope the picture will post.

Congratulations on a Fine Hunt Highbow!

I know what you are saying! My shoulder is FAR to gone to allow the use of a compound any more. When I realized that, I simply hung up the bow for many years... But, acquired a new Ibex last winter, practiced a LOT with it over the summer and fall, and managed to take two whitetails with it the first time out! SWEET! Even Sweeter is the understanding that once again I can take to the field with a Bow in hand! That is PRICELESS to me!

Some fine grits there! ENJOY!

Cheers,
Nog

Congratulations on your 1st deer with your new Axiom. I took my 1st deer a few weeks ago with my New Axiom. Excalibur makes an awesome crossbow. May it be the 1st of many deer to fall victim to your AXiom.

VixChix, you are correct. I was trying to make some quick decisions without getting picked off. My stand is at 22 feet in the tree but when the deer got above me it was almost level from my seat. I spotted two below me and the buck was putting pressure on them, I already knew that I wouldn't shoot him. I'm just very glad that all went smooth and my S5 kit kept the shot rather quite. the two does behind the one I shot couldn't figure out what had happened. So Yes , it was a nice day to enjoy, finish out my 2011 and I still might have time for another hunt before Jan 16th, but a lot of bucks are already dropping antlers.

Keep at it! Who knows? You might get a chance at one more before the 16th! Our season ends tomorrow night. Doubt I'll get out tomorrow so I'll be living vicariously through those like you who have a longer season! :D
