Never tried it either so very interested to see what everyone has to say. I have heard of people using netting or fencing beside a feeder placed in a tight vee so that bucks have to push their antlers into the mesh to get feed. When they get close to dropping hopefully the mesh plucks them off before they drop out nin the open some where.

i've seen where guys will put corn below a fallen tree so the buck needs to turn his head to reach the corn under it and touch his antlers on the tree as he goes after the corn and knock them off .i've never tried but looks to work and more natural than wire
PUT IT IN THE BAG MARLIN ( #$%^ you it"ll bite)

Be careful what you use. Some materials can be deadly to the deer.

A friend of mine used to use three buckets
in a row tied to a tree
The middle bucket is lower than the outside two
with corn in it. When he trys to put his head in the corn the outside buckets will pop the horns off and hopfully fall into the buckets so nothing chews them till he gets back

I have never tryed it but he says it works

I was beginning to wonder how he tied three bucks together rick! :P

I know, missprint. :D His method sounds like a safe way to do it.

In ont. the COs might construe the netting or wire to be a snare.

what ever is used to try to get antlers this way please do not use the fence method as it can and will trap a buck by the antlers not ready to fall yet....use the log cave method to make the buck try to get under the log and rub/bump his antlers on it  ....i seen a few pic's of bucks who died tangled in fences set up to get antlers and the buck getting chewed on while still alive by yots  .........bob

I've seen some with kind of a V-shaped funnel frame with bungee cords stretched up around it, with a bucket below to hold feed. I'll have to look around and see if I can find a picture of it.

Found this one on Archery Talk. Looks pretty simple and easy to make.

Would putting some corn underneath a few low hanging branches or right in the middle of a scrubby bush work the same?
Something that is pretty thick or will the deer not be able to find the corn in there?
Or will the bucks actually push their head into a bush for some corn?
Just looking for something a little more natural and safe for the deer and that way I'll be able to have multiple spots going rather than just one or two constructed feeders.
Thanks
