O/T shooting rest question

Post by ottawacats »

I have seen some photo's on here of people using shooting rest's while target shooting. Is there a brand or type that people use? I have seen locally at 2 stores the brand MTM case-gaurd. I notice they have 3 stlyes or models that I think will work with a crossbow .So before I make a purchase just want to see what others suggest to use.

Thanks,
Matt

For the front rest, I just use the one I use for my rifles, just a cheap Caldwell.

At the back of the bow, I've got a couple of sand bags that I use to help steady everything. Just take the legs out of an old pair of blue jeans, sew up one end, fill with sand, and sew up the other end. Viola! Cheap sand bags in any size you need.

I use a shooting bench and some shooting bags, you can pick up the bags at Walmart to shoot my crossbow. The shooting bench I use is a Big Game shootng bench that is fairly inexpensive somewhere around $100.00 or less and can be purchased from Sportsman Guide. I don't know if this is what you are looking for but if it is I hope this helps.

I use the same Gander Mountain bipod that I use for my rifles.

Thanks for the info on sandbags for a rest.
Big58cal that is the style of rest I had seen at the stores, I think it is the style I will be going with.
Again thank you for the info everyone.

I've got an MTM rest that works pretty good and a set of sand bags (3) that I got at Cabela's for $20 that work great. I've also used ziplc bags stuffed with plastic pellets used in plastic injection molds. I work at a mold shop and can get that stuff free. :)
