20" or 22" Bolts

Is there any advantage to shooting 22" bolts vs. the 20" bolts. 20" seems to be the popular choice.

According to Excalibur there is no difference. I cut my 20" shafts down a bit.

Do you cut them for speed? I was wondering if a 22" bolt would stabilize faster because the fletches are farther from the BH.

I was thinking about trying 22 inch shafts as well. Thinking the length may allow for an increased FOC and better stabilization with 100 grain broadheads.

I am going to try longer bolts next season for safety reasons.
I shoot an equinox and the 20 inch bolts do not obstruct the sturip area and allow you to put your foot in the struip while their is a bolt in place .
I almost put a bolt through my foot uncocking my bow while loaded .
Very stupid on my part but it happened and I want longer bolts so I can not get the chance to make the same mistake again.
I am looking for some 22 inch carbon blank shafts any suggestions ?
As far as other advantages the longer bolts they are supposed to be more stable in flight,do not shed energy as fast,and will somewhat reduce noise and vibration.

Having a longer shaft weakens the spine so there some give and take there. So I don't see any advantage.
Ask truly competitive shooters what length they use. Then ask what the really productive hunters what they use. They all use 20" arrows. The difference between 20" and 22" arrows is a moot point. It isn't going to make a difference when killing game.
I cut down my arrows to lose weight and gain speed with no loss in hunting accuracy.
Gerald, try Carbon Express Maxima Hunters if you want to try 22" arrows.
Experimenting is definitely the key here to see what makes you happy.

I have shot both, no noticable improvement. With 2219-22", 125g BH and brass inserts I was up to 588g.

With 2219 the 22" give you about 20 g more than the 20".

I have tried 2219 as long as 26" out of a Phoenix i had & my Vixen. I really couldn't see any better accuracy than they were at 20". Just was tinkering back then. Now all i do is shoot diff kinds of Tick Toters. At the yardage i shoot them i don't have a junk arrow that isn't min of kill out to 40 yds wid a fixed bladed BH!

It can be a deer, hog, squirrel, rabbit . . .anything that might have a tick attached. It's best to use tick repellent when in the woods.
