Coyote attack

Post by MADMAX2 »

Not sure about the circumstances here, but this is what was reported.

An 8-year-old Oakville girl is recovering after she was bitten twice by a coyote in broad daylight Thursday while playing with a friend in a backyard.

Halton police say it happened on Cannonridge Circle just before 4 p.m.

The two girls, both aged 8, were playing in the backyard when the coyote jumped a 4-foot high chain linked fence.

Julie was bitten twice in the lower leg. She was treated at hospital for minor injuries and released.

"It felt like someone was chasing me and I felt like the coyote was going to come and grab a piece of my skin off..." she told CityNews.

A coyote was found and shot dead not long after, but police say they aren't certain it's the same one responsible for the attack.

Man, coyotes are nothing but trouble. I see one and if I can it will be dead. Poor little girl. I hope she heals with no scars mental or phsical.

Coyotes are are real problem. I agree with you agingcrossbower. That poor child. Who knows maybe some of these children that goes missing may be taken by a four legged predators called the coyote. We live in a rural setting, woods is close by. When my daughter was 5 years old she was playing on the back lawn, just after supper, she comes into the house and is scared to death. I asked what was wrong and she says, "Daddy there is something in the woods growling at me". I go and investigate and nothing is there. No more than 5 minutes later the wife looks out the living room window and here is a huge coyote trotting up the hill and is now standing in the road directly in front of our house. I went downstairs to retrieve my shotgun and some shells, my wife was cuddling our 5 year old daughter and our 10 year old son opened the screen door and the coyote took off. It was a male coyote, he was lucky to have gotten away alive. The next day just down the hill from our house there were three coyotes standing in the road, two females and a large male, they were seen by a close family friend and after that our children was never allowed out of our sight again. We have always remembered how fortunate we were that our daughter was not taken from us.

The yotes have become more brazen in the last few years.
This year with less snow they may be having a hard time catching their regular prey.

Also there have been confirmed sightings of cougars in Ontario and Michigan. Protected or not, I will have no trouble pulling the trigger.

I also believe they need to be shot on sight. I was able to kill one this past year with my rifle but I saw 2 more, one nice black one that I didn't get a shot at.

I love my grandchildren I would really hate something like that happening to them. I hope the little girl isn't tramatized by this event and heals well.
