Which Excal?

Post by robertyb »

I am currently shooting a Parker Buck Buster and am thinking about selling it and buying an Excal. I have no dealers close and no way to shoot one without driving a long ways to do so.

I have been pricing them and have pretty much narrowed my search down to two bows both new. They are a Vortex with the varizone package and the Ibex (not SMF) with the Shadowzone package. The price is within a dollar of each other.

Which would you choose and why?

Geeez man, that's to hard to pick. The fps of the vortex is just about perfect, but the ibex/shadow zone is an option I would like. Not to mention its one of the last few that will have the alum rail.

You can't really go wrong, but me? I'd go with the ibex

I own both...if your strictly hunting i would go with the vortex. If your going to hunt & mix in a lot of recreational shooting go with the ibex, easier on the servings and back!!
Both will kill your critter's equally dead.
Good luck & welcome to the forum!! :D

I would go with the Ibex. Just because i own one & I like it better than the Vortex I owned @ one time.

Ibex is much easier on the back, string's & is lighter & easier to shoot & carry.

Just my 2 cents.....

Ibex with brass inserts and slick tricks. Great tree stand bow (size wise and thumbhole stock), and they simply crush deer. Hurry up if your buying Aluminum rail version.

We have both, & love them both :D
Think you would be happy with anyone, I was lucky to have a dealer within 20 miles from me, had a hard time on picking one, so I bought a Vortex fer me & the Ibex fer the wife, I would sure hate to pick the one I like best, depends on the day really, I know this is not much help to ya, sorry, there both great bows, IMO

I would go with the Shadowzone.

I went all the way to checkout on the Ibex and it added another fee for insurance and the shipping increased a little from what was estimated. This puts the Ibex at a tad over $22.00 for the Vortex shipped. Does this change anyone's thinking?

I have the Vortex and of course love it, but I can see if you were shooting a lot the Ibex would be easier on your back. I was going to buy the Ibex but I bought my Vortex at a sweet deal that had been used for a couple of months so I couldn't pass up the deal. Good Luck

Made my decision. Here is my order.

Vortex 6750 $608.20
S5 Suppressor $ 32.62
Excal stringer $ 20.96
1989 FFF string $ 25.20

Total shipped $696.93

I think I got a good deal :D
