ODE: To The Old Bowhunter

Post by papa bear1 »

I've been huntin all my life, and lately i've been told;
that I need to give it up, Because i'm gettin old

I went hunting anyway, the other morning, and climbed up in a tree,
But I wasn't there very long, & dang it I had to pee,

So I climbed down from my stand,to go out in the brush,
But I didn't get very far, Guess i should have rushed,

Went back up in my stand, with my kinda wet pants,
But I couldn't sit very still, because of those dadgum ant,s

So I walked back to the house, to put on something dry,
It's days like this that makes me ask myself, Why

Walkin back to my stand, was really hard on my ole knee's
If I didn't take those darned ole water pills I wouldn't have to pee,

Got back up in my stand and sat there with my bow,
and it wasn't very long and here came a doe,

So I raised up my bow and I let that arrow fly,
And as I walked up to her i suddenly knew why,

I will keep on huntin as long as I can go,
I'm not ready yet to give up my bow,
When that time come's I will always know,
I'll remember all my hunts from a long, long, time ago !

God Bless all you old timers/guys &gals you do us all proud!

Sentimental and funny :D Love it
To be a vegetarian is to listen to the live carrot gradually screaming as it drowns in a pot of boiling water …. Which is more ethical to you ??

I think i'm like most of the older bow hunter,s I'v been rode hard and put up wet too many times   But being retired gives me more time to walk
back and forth to my hunting spots,

A friend asked me the other day "Do you hunt and fish all the time now you are retired? I can't ever catch you at home anymore." I said "yep, sure do."

Retirement is he!! folks but somebody has to do it.
Everyday is Saturday.
I woke up this morning with nothing to do but I had all day to do it. I figured if I did not get nothing done today I could finish it tomorrow.
