taking the hunter education course
Decided to take the hunter education course this year.
Been hunting for over 50 years, but since my son has to take the course I thought I might as well sign up, too.
Who knows, I may learn something new.

I hope the course are better over your way then here, most of our courses are just Gov't money grabs. I am taking the crossbow hunting course this Saturday, I really am hoping its worth the $45 I paid, unlike the $50 the gov't steal when they make you take a course to hunt turkeys.

Wabi,
That's a great idea. Some states out west require a card to get a license. I know Colorado did the last time i went after elk.

I am pretty sure it is based on when you were born strum. when I was in Colorado they never asked me for mine when I bought my license and I was checked in the field and not asked then either. I am a Ga boy also btw and it is based on year born here for certain.strum wrote:they require a Hunters ed course here is Ga too..I never had to show the card but i think you are supposed to have it if the game warden asks..nchunterkw wrote:Wabi,

Back in the early 70s I passed a safety test before I was issued my first licence.
Also took a bowhunter course a long time ago and can't recall the year, although I still have the certificate somewhere.

It strikes me as funny that the patch says "qualified bowhunter" yet it depicts a stump with an arrow in it, and what appears to be a nice deer running away story of my life
Good on ya Wabi to be going with the boy. I hope to reach that stage one day.

I can't remember if that topic came about.one shot scott wrote:

Seems to me I received in the mail some time after the course.
At that time we were hoping that the MNR would endorse the course and make it a prerequisite to bowhunt.
That endorsement never came.

That's a cool patch. Interesting though that they chose to show the arrow stuck in the stump and not in the side of the deer. Maybe it ended up there after a pass through??Ont_Excal wrote:Back in the early 70s I passed a safety test before I was issued my first licence.
