Right rubber stopper split, already??

Post by Athena1 »

How long should it take the string stoppers to split? My right one is already split.

They'll split if your string is in contact with the stoppers, if you have the seam lined up with the string or if you dry-fire the bow. Otherwise I don't know. I think most of us have had a couple of hundred shots without splitting.

I bought a spare set of rubber stoppers right when I bought the whole S5 setup. You never know when one is going to split. I didn't want it to be during hunting and not have any on hand. But I hope they last longer than that. I still haven't shot the bow with the S5 on it yet. It's sitting on a hanger unstung in my shop.

Athena 1, something is wrong. You really have to contact a Excalibur warranty center. Meaning Danny Miller (USA) or Excalibur if your dealer isnt going to swap out that bow for ya and your running the correct brace height and all scope mounts and screws are TIGHT.

Your POI, safety mechanism, split rubbers are all indicators that something is amok. This isnt common. Thats my opinion.

Mine are still looking good but the left side is almost touching the string and the right side is a string width away. I guess my tiller is off a little. I have checked the bolts and screws and everything is tight. It is still shooting quarters at 40 yards also. Should I back it off another twist?

It may be in the riser holes Dan. Your tiller can be out a fair bit and drive nails with field tips and get wild with a fixed broadhead. I had that happen with a Vortex and ended up sending putting on new limbs.

I measured the tiller and it is off about 1/16" side to side.

I noticed a difference in string gap between the 2 rubber stoppers on my setup & thought the tiller may be off but after carefully measuring the tiller was correct. I discovered a 3/64" difference in the lengths of the rubber stoppers. Now that isn't much but it's noticeable when the brace height gets close to the stoppers.
I'm not worried about it as it seems to me the next set of rubber replacement stoppers will take care of this slight difference. :D
Just saying,
Hoagy
