Stirrup wrap

Post by Bullzeye »

I've read a couple threads here where people have mentioned wrapping their stirrup with some kind of rubber product to reduce noise. Has anyone wrapped it in Paracord??? would this also reduce noise???
The reason I ask is because it takes around 15ft. of paracord to wrap just the bottom half of the stirrup, and I like the idea of having that much extra paracord around in case I ever need it, and if it also help noise reduction even better.

Everything can be fixed or improved with that lol but you got me thinking if I should tape it before wrapping it with the paracord, and should I be wrapping the entire stirrup, or would just the bottom be good enough to absorb the vibrations??

I wrap the whole thing but you may have to remove some in the center for broadhead clearance.

I have been meaning to wrap my stirup with paracord since I first got it but I haven's gotten around to it yet. I wrapped the underfolding stocks on guns for me and my wife with it and it's been on there for a few years and still looks good with alot of shooting.

I would not want the possibility of a web belt or rope breaking when pulling my 200 pound exomag.

I covered mine with a thin layer of rubber and then covered it with camo duct tape.

Probably a bit extreme but I wanted it to be durable.
Para cord sounds good too, but I would cover with dust tape to reduce wear and keep the cord clean.

If you are worried about bh clearance then cover that area with the tape only.

You could also align the blades of the bh for max. clearance.

I've used Vet-Wrap on mine.

Has anyone tried spraying the stirrup with bedliner or something similar?

Well i'm jelous as hell  I would love to wrap mine ,BUT, w/my hunting boots on it's all i can do to even get my foot in the stirrup as it is, As I stated before w/my boot's on I honestly believe i could walk on water,
I started to take the stirrup off and put a loop on it but at 225 lb. draw wght. that could be painfull, x 2  so i guess i'll live w/it..

Dave :)

You could try a rubber or epoxy coating just on the outside of the stirrup.

[quote="Ont_Excal"]I would not want the possibility of a web belt or rope breaking when pulling my 200 pound exomag.

Using the rope cocker one is only pulling 100 lbs for 12 inches or so depending on how one set up the rope. The tensile strength of a nylon web belt far exceeds that Herculean feat and rivals the stock stirrup itself. :)
