How the MNR stores your personal info?

Post by hikerman »

Called the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resourses to buy my tag today.

The voice message stated that:

" the personal information may be stored outside of Canada and is suject to the duristiction of where it is stored"

Does that meanwhat ever country it is store may not have ant privicy laws?

They cal sell the info ?

What about the credit card info?

LOL! The technical term for this is a "flip-flop"!

That info is being stored in the U.S. because the contract to handle the new online/phone licensing system was awarded to a U.S. company.

I was at a meeting last month where the MNR specifically stated that the data in the U.S. would be perfectly safe because the contract stated that Canadian laws would apply. That's when someone stood up and suggested that the MNR read the Patriot Act. Guess they did.

All is good this year. Can't say when contract is up and all your info gets sent and ends up in India. We are all friends here. Just post your credit card number here and the three digits on the back and we will watch out for you.
