First Crossbow Turkey WHOOPPEEEEEEEEE!!!
FIRST CROSSBOW TURKEY WHOOPPEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!
I have finaly killed my first turkey with a crossbow. Not a huge bird but I was not going to be picky as tough as the season has been. I had to take the wife to work this morning since my transmission is out of my truck. Well being a women she was running late. Dropped her off, gave her a kiss goodbye and started to drive off when I see her running back to the truck. So I stopped opened the door and said what now, she gave me another kiss and said that is for luck this morning. I just smiled and went on. Got to the farm and it was already daylight 6:10, so I grabbed my stuff and made a mad dash to the blind. Got to the blind, got the decoys out sat down on my seat and that is when I heard the hens putting at me for being late. I watched as they flew of up the ridge, and then saw 3 birds fly in the field 75 yards from me. I have been waiting in the late mornings to call since the birds have been so quiet. Well this time I got one of my copper over slate calls and gave a few soft yelps and clucks. Put the call to the side and was about to get a drink of water when I looked to the left and there was a bird coming. So I got my Excalicur Vortex in the ready postion, and saw that there was 3 birds coming all JAKES!!! I started to put the excal down and thought to myself, it has been a tough year the Lord is giving you a chance at a bird DUMMIE!!! So I watched as they came to the decoys I wanted the bigger one but he got behind the decoy no shot. Well the smallest one started getting spooked, because I made a slight adjustment to my postion, so I put the crosshairs on the second largest at the base of the wing at touched the trigger. Perfect hit he walked over about 20 yards and fell over the other to started pecking and spurring at him. The arrow was a clean pass thru and was 15 yards past him.I walked over and knelt down and said a prayer for the day's hunt and the bird that the Good Lord gave me.He has a 6 inch beard and 1/2 inch spur's, not my biggest bird but one I will never forget.I was done at 6:30 and heading back to the truck. Here is a pic of me and my bird. Thanks for looking.
God Bless,
Mark

No way you can beat that with a stick! Congrats Mark!!!! Shotguns are one thing, but getting one with archery equipment is a whole 'nother ball of wax. Something to be proud of for sure!
After tinkering with my bow during the winter, I've yet to get it sighted back in, so I won't be taking my Beast this year. Next year though!
Congrats again on the bird!!! Besides, those beards and spurs taste like crap.

Nice bird. That fan looks nice and rounded off to me. If it is then that is a 2 year old bird with a short beard.
