5-5-5 Bird

Went out Saturday May 5 with my buddy Pulverisor(Pete) to a farm we deer hunt on and set up a spread with his pretty boy in the winter wheat we stayed for a couple of hours nothing but lots of wind.

So I suggested runnin and gunnin,we head through the bush on a deer trail and stop every 50 yds and call wait 5 min and start walking we make it out to another field and hear a faint gooble on the other side we see a tom in full strut with a hen it's 2:30.

We call, trying to bring them over but he is busy breeding her so we break up and I head to the east side of the field and sit while Pete calls every 20 min.

I see the hen comming my way but can't see the tom because there is a strip of bush that jets out between me and Pete. Pete calls and then I hear him gobble then wait for Pete's shot but nothing?

Then I see this crimson red head bobbing up and down comming my way in the field I wait for the beard and yes it is TOM!! at 25 yds I slowly raise the 870 and send out a Winchester hv 3" #6.

For the rest of us not on the metric scale, that would be 9.84" beard & 0.98" spurs.
