If you are out turkey hunting that big black thing comming to your call may be a bear!!
Good thing I hunt on the other side of Hwy 6 and 401!! :D

Halton Regional Police have received several reports of bear sightings over the past two days in Milton.

Yesterday, a farmer saw a bear on his property near Sixth Line and Lower Base Line Road. Police attended and saw the bear from a distance. The bear came toward officers and stood up on its back legs about 50 metres away from the officers. It then ran off into the bush.
On Saturday, another resident reported a bear sighting at Guelph Line and Highway 401 in Campbellville.

The bear is described as a large male black bear approximately 400 pounds in weight.

There is no indication the bear has caused any harm to any human or cattle at this time. Bears can travel great distances and subsequently the exact location of the bear cannot be determined, police said.

There has been reported bears in SW Ontario last couple of years. Last year was NE of Woodstock (between Innerkip and Drumbo) and the year before was north of Woodstock (Near Hickson).

Good thing people phoned it in as a bear. Otherwise if like cops from my town, they wouldn't have a clue what it was! They would just figure it was Halloween!

Halton police shot and killed a black bear in a Burlington park Wednesday after the animal was seen wandering close to peoples’ homes.

Residents reported seeing the 400-pound animal lumbering in Mountainside Park in the Mountain Rd. and Queen Elizabeth Way area around 10 a.m.

And while police reportedly called the Ministry of Natural Resources for help, officers were forced to shoot the animal after realizing help was unavailable.

“We do not have tranquillizer guns or that capability, nor are we trained to (use) them,” said Halton Regional Police spokesman Sgt. Dave Cross.

“Our officers do not relish having to dispatch an animal, but our options were extremely limited,” Cross added in a statement.

It has also been reported that City of Burlington Animal Control was also contacted, but those at animal control claimed to not be adequately equipped to deal with the situation.

The bear, an adult male, reportedly had at one point ventured within nine metres of a house.

Minister of Natural Resources Michael Gravelle reportedly said earlier this week that the ministry would no longer tranquilize and relocate wild bears, adding that bears were returning to the same areas despite the effort.

"Different news agencies reported this Bear at being between three and four hundred pounds"
