upgrades to bow before deer season?

Post by -sro- »

I have a stock Vortex lite-stuff bow.

I am planning on getting the S5 system.

Anything else worth adding to make the bow quieter/ better for hunting?

Thanks!

Yup foam and silicone filled the rail. Have Aging build me a custom wooden stock and will probably wrap the stirrup. Also cut down my arrows to 19" (might regret this the first time I destring with an arrow still on the rail) went with 120gn brass inserts for a total weight of just over 500 gn.

After six years of using the exocet 200 I want to tweak it a little and have some fun with it.

I put a god-a-grip rubber on the bottom of the forestock & a rubber type recoil pad on the stock, (not sure if it helps with sound, I think it does, but i don't hear so good anymore. ). But it seems to help with a more solid hold.
Also we really like the excal cheekpiece, helps line up the crosshairs much faster for us.

I'm wanting to tweak on the stock and do a little painting. Will see how time works out, would like it done and resighted and dialed in by Boostock, but we'll see. Worst case, shoot the old bow, heck it got a turkey this spring.

I find that a cheek piece is the best thing I've done to mine, next to string stoppers (made my own before S-5 availibility). Greatly helps with eye-scope alignment, constant sight picture

I have found a product called Silent Running I would like to try. Used to quiet vibrations in heavy duty industrial equipment. Vid on company website shows it quiet machinery substantially.

Unsure of how to apply it properly to inside of barrel but I bet it would fairly well.

I have added a Tac-Pac to my Equinox and am very impressed with the difference in the feel and handling it has made for me and my Equinox. Looking forward to adding a on a light and a Mono-Pod or a Bi-pod at some point in time.
Thank you,
Raymond
